This series installment spotlights Alexis Pena, People Operations Specialist and winner of Amplitude’s Values Award for Humility for Q1 2025.

Can you tell us about yourself and how you landed your role at Amplitude?

I’ve always been passionate about people and building processes that help them thrive. Fun fact, I studied HR in school. After graduating, I spent several years working in people operations roles across various companies. I’m grateful for those experiences as they gave me a deep understanding of the impact of thoughtful processes and strong systems. With over seven years of experience, I was drawn to Amplitude’s mission, values, and the exciting stage of growth the company was in. I saw it as the perfect opportunity to continue growing professionally while making a meaningful impact—and I’m so glad to be here!

How does your work at Amplitude help create a world where technology is frustration-free? Can you share a project you’re particularly proud of that reflects this goal?

A big part of my role is identifying ways to simplify processes and remove friction so employees can focus on what they do best—without unnecessary hurdles. One project I’m especially proud of was helping revamp our onboarding experience to make it more intuitive and user-friendly for new hires. We streamlined key touchpoints, clarified communications, and focused on helping people feel supported from day one. Another highlight was leading our Zendesk migration. By centralizing resources and improving how employees access help and information, we reduced confusion and made support more accessible across the organization. Whether it’s refining workflows or building tools that anticipate people’s needs, I’m always looking for ways to reduce frustration and make work feel smoother.

How do our Humility, Ownership, and Growth Mindset values shape your approach to work?

These values are at the core of how I show up everyday. Humility means staying open to feedback, listening deeply, and recognizing there’s always more to learn—from others and from experience. Ownership drives me to take initiative, be accountable, and see projects through - especially those that directly impact the employee experience. And having a growth mindset keeps me curious and adaptable, whether I’m learning a new system, refining a process, or collaborating across teams. Together, these values help me continuously improve while staying grounded and people-focused.

We admire Ampliteers who go above and beyond to ensure success for our customers and the business. What inspires you to be extraordinary in your role at Amplitude?

I’m continually inspired by the people I get to work with every day. Amplitude is full of incredibly smart, driven, and collaborative individuals and their dedication pushes me to show up as my best self every day. Knowing that the work I do behind the scenes helps create a smoother, more supportive experience for my teammates is deeply motivating. It’s not just about solving problems—it’s about helping others thrive, and that’s what drives me to go above and beyond.

What personal or professional goals are you excited about for the future, and how do you envision Amplitude playing a part in your growth?

I’m excited to continue growing into a well-rounded people-operations professional, whether that means designing programs that truly support employees, implementing tools that make their day-to-day smoother, or being a trusted partner the team can rely on. What makes Amplitude such a great place for growth is the opportunity to learn from incredibly smart and talented colleagues and work on projects that have a real impact. I’m looking forward to continuing to build on that foundation, take on new challenges and keep evolving in ways that benefit both the team and the business.
