Senior Talent Operations Coordinator, Amplitude

Thomas Hansen and the rest of the Amplitude NY office cut a ribbon and pop champagne

Start spreading the news: We’re thrilled to announce the opening of our new New York City office—a space designed to bring our team together, foster collaboration, and strengthen the vibrant culture that makes Amplitude special! As we continue to grow, we recognize the value of in-person connections, and this new office is a testament to our commitment to teamwork, innovation, and community.

To celebrate this milestone, we’re spotlighting Brian Ivanovick and Brian Wagner, two key Ampliteers who have been instrumental in shaping our culture and driving our mission forward in New York City. They both share what this new space means to the team, the impact of being in person and collaborating together, and why they love the culture of Amplitude!

Join us as we look inside our new space, hear from our employees, and embrace the next chapter of our journey!

What makes NYC a special place for Amplitude to have an office?

Brian Ivanovick: The people. Amplitude is filled with humble, ambitious individuals who hold themselves to high standards but also know how to have a laugh. Every day, I’m energized by the mix of early-career professionals and industry veterans eager to debate what’s best for our customers.

I also love that the office is big enough to meet colleagues from various functional areas but small enough to get to know everyone personally.

Brian Wagner: For me, what makes the NYC office special are the great people who make up the many teams we now have in the area. We’re building a culture where we learn from one another, challenge each other to improve, and celebrate our wins together. Being in the office allows us to build a culture that accelerates growth and empowers folks to build relationships they'll take forward throughout their careers.

How has having a dedicated office space changed how you collaborate with your team?

Brian Ivanovick: My team is distributed around the globe, so the benefits of the office are a bit different for me. The primary benefit is the serendipitous meetings with colleagues. I get to talk to sales about what resonates with our customers and product managers about their vision for the product.

The New York office is special because it’s small enough that we all know each other. When executives visit, I have informal time with them to build relationships and hear about their priorities.

At the end of the day, your career is all about the relationships you build and carry forward with you. You can’t do that through Zoom. The warmth and connection you make in person are unbeatable.

Brian Wagner: We've had a dedicated space in NYC for years; however, the new office is special because its size and layout are better suited for our team. Our new office manager, Trisha Lewis, has done an incredible job of creating a warm and welcoming environment with many live plants and in-person events. She has also arranged catered lunches and coffee for special occasions.

While Zoom is great for keeping us connected for day-to-day work activities, nothing replaces the energy or depth of in-person interactions. The NYC office has become a hub where our cross-functional teams come together and grow as one team.

What’s your favorite part of the new office, and what are you looking forward to?

Brian Ivanovick: My favorite part of the new office is that the layout gives me the opportunity to forge new relationships and friendships because I’m interacting with new people. The open and dynamic environment has allowed me to build new relationships and strengthen connections with colleagues I may not have worked with as closely before.

A very close second is our exceptional new office manager, Trisha Lewis. Her dedication to both the workspace and company culture is a highlight. She is the reason the office feels welcoming and well-maintained while also organizing frequent culture-building events that bring us together. Her efforts have already made a significant impact.

Brian Wagner: The office provides the opportunity for my team to have clients in person and to host folks in our own space for the first time. It also provides a professional environment for our team to host events and executive-level meetings that help drive our business forward within the Northeast.

Three Ampliteers smile

In what ways does the NYC office reflect Amplitude’s culture and values?

Brian Ivanovick: Our values are humility, ownership, and a growth mindset. It’s tricky to make a physical space embody values—those need to come to life in the day-to-day interactions between the people who inhabit it.

That said, the space itself is professional but not overly formal. We work together in an environment that encourages frequent collaboration.

This latest incarnation of the New York office is definitely a milestone in our company’s growth. We’re close to all the happenings in NoMad—most of which I’m too old to know or care about, but others seem to enjoy. The growth of our office is a sign of things to come. As we continue to devote ourselves to our customers, our momentum will only build.

Brian Wagner: The NYC office is a great example of Amplitude’s ownership and growth mindset values in action.

Leaders across the office have played a big role in shaping the environment. There’s a strong focus on cross-functional collaboration, with people constantly learning from each other, refining their skills, and working together on key accounts/projects.

Being in the office also reinforces our interpersonal relationships, and an in-person environment helps build the personal relationships that become our foundation for sharing ideas, giving feedback, and supporting one another.
